Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a special occasion to celebrate the paternal figure in our lives. That’s why we want to offer children the opportunity to create something special for their dads, something they can wear with pride and feel like true kings.
In this creative workshop, children will be able to make colorful cardboard crowns decorated with transparent gelatin, which will look like real gemstones set to shine in the sunlight.

Performance

1) Preparation
First, let’s prepare the materials. Cut thick cardboard into strips about 8 cm wide and 60 cm long. Each child will need one. Provide children with wax crayons of different colors and colored transparent gelatin sheets. Also, provide scissors, vinyl glue, and glitter to color the crowns.

2) Drawing and coloring the crown
First of all, children draw the shape of the crown they want to create on the cardboard strip. They can choose to make a crown with zigzag points, or a wavy crown, or a simpler crown. When they finish drawing, they color the crown with wax crayons. They can choose the colors they prefer and combine them as they wish.

3) Setting the gemstones
Once the children have finished coloring the crown, we move on to the next step. Cut the colored transparent gelatins into small pieces of different shapes. Children decide where they want to set the “gemstones” and glue them onto the crown with vinyl glue. The gelatin will look like real precious stones set into the crown.

4) Decorating with glitter
If the children want to add a little extra sparkle to their crown, they can add glitter. Glitter can be added to the edges of the crown or to the points where the gemstones were set. This step is optional but can give a very nice and luminous final effect.

5) Assembling the crown
Finally, assemble the crown. Cut both sides of the cardboard strip so that they can be overlapped and glued on top of each other. If the children wish, they can add extra decorations such as feathers or paper flowers.
