The sensory book

From the inspiration of Maestro Bruno Munari’s “The tactile workshops” comes the idea of this workshop with a dual objective: on the one hand to push children to practice with the book tool in the common sense of the term and on the other to express their creativity in search of a lexicon made of objects even before letters of the alphabet.
Smooth, rough, soft, hard, slimy, bristly and any other tactile sensation allow our fingertips to discover and invent a sensory language with which to interpret the world.
In this workshop we will transform into story the experiences of the fifth sense obtained by manipulating materials for the recovery of everyday life by composing a textural book halfway between writing and artistic creation.

Performance

1) The dummy

In the first part of the workshop we will create the dummy of our sensory book with thick cardboard that will be cut joined with coloured tape. Our book is not expected to have more than four pages.

2) The story

In this phase we will give the green light to our imagination creating a simple story that will be represented in the book with all the materials at our disposal: coloured fabric, wool, plastic caps, straws, sponges and much more.

2) Presentation

Once the realization of the book is complete, each child will show and tell the others the story he composed.
