The picture of my qualities

This is a type of activity that strengthens self-esteem in children and this is crucial in their personal development.
Helping children to have a positive image of themselves is fundamental and this workshop suggests the right words to do it.
Inspired by the reading of the book “The Jewel inside Us All” by Anna Llenas we were confronted with her reflections on the uniqueness of our essence. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to recognize our own qualities, the value we give ourselves and, above all, the fact that we often do not allow ourselves to freely express our talents.
It is often through an external look, that is, of others, that we have the opportunity to see and accept our deep value and that is why we must accept the importance of surrounding ourselves with the right people to build a healthy and robust self-esteem.

Performance

This workshop is divided into several stages.

1. Introduction
In this phase I present the theme of the activity that we are going to carry out and we confront ourselves in a discursive way on the meaning of the research that we will conduct.

2. Body awakening
Through psychomotor exercises, coordination, dance and breathing we come into contact with our body and the feeling so as to dispose it to a more fluid receptive and expressive attitude.

3. Reading
We read together the book “The Jewel inside Us All” and during the reading we focus on the most significant passages giving way to everyone to contribute to the theme treated sharing his considerations or questions.

4. Search for qualities
This phase is the real nucleus of the laboratory. After reading the book, sitting in a circle, each of the participants takes turns in the middle, while the bystanders express what they think are the qualities of the companion. From his side the protagonist, trying to remain in a “listening of the heart” will express if and how much it is recognized in the qualities that are attributed to him.

5. Representation
In this each participant will draw in the frames of the table “Picture of my qualities” a subject that describes their talents.

6. Presentation to the group
In turn each will bring on stage with the help of kamishibai your own design trying to accompany to each quality an interpretation through the use of voice and gestures.

7. Conclusion
The session ends with the cosmic embrace in which each child thanks the companions for the support and contribution he received in his research.
